PESHAWAR: Provincial Relief Commissioner and Incharge of Emergency Response Unit (ERU) Muhammad Azam Khan on Sunday urged the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to expedite the process of verification of IDPs registration so the arrangements for disbursement of cash amount and relief kits among them could be finalized at the earliest.
“The provincial government aims to provide immediate relief to the IDPs of Malakand division and tribal areas, but delay in verification of their registration has been affecting the relief operation,” said Muhammad Azam Khan while talking to NADRA Director General during a meeting at the ERU office.
According to an ERU handout issued here, Muhammad Azam said that verification of IDPs data was a pre-requisite for future planning and development strategy for the IDPs of Malakand division. “Without systematic data, no planning, no implementation and no strategy would be workable nor any direction could be determined for effective relief operation in the province,” he added.
The ERU Incharge proposed that the Nadra should increase the registration and cash disbursement points so the provincial government is able to make the relief operation more effective. “We want to facilitate the IDPs of Malakand division in whose areas the army has been conducting operation against the miscreants,” he went on to say.
The Director General Nadra assured Muhammad Azam Khan that his proposals for increasing the registration points would be considered and NADRA would do its best to make the registration transparent. “We are ready to open our offices in Buner district and Dargai if the government provides security to the staff,” he said.
ERU shall release the revised list of new registration points on its website www.helpidp.org and via electronic/ print media as soon as its made available.
