PESHAWAR: The Emergency Response Unit (ERU) established by the government of NWFP for controlling and monitoring the relief operation for internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Malakand Division and tribal areas has established several vocational skills development centers in the IDPs camps in various parts of the province.
According to a handout issued here by ERU on Thursday, the ERU with the collaboration of donor agencies has established two vocational centers in Shah Mansoor IDPs camps where the youth would be trained as plumbers and electricians. Females have been provided sewing machines.
Two vocational training centers have been set up in Yar Hussain camp with the collaboration of Ummah Trust. Youth are being trained there as welders and technicians. Two centers have been established in Shiekh Yasen and the same number has been opened in Shiekh Shehzad IDPs camp. Special attention is being given to training women in stitching. Vocational training center has also been opened in Palosai.
Vocational centers have also opened in Jalala IDPs camps where the youth both male and female will be trained in stitching, carpentering and electric works. Khubab Trust has been providing active support for running the centers.
Two more vocational training centers will be established in Saleem Sugar Mills where a camp for IDPs of Malakand division has been established. Initially centers will be opened in tents.
It has been planned that working vacational centers would impart trainings trades. The ERU will provide technical support in developing market-oriented courses to train the instructors and teachers. |
