IDPs’ return to complete in 14 days

PESHAWAR: After following the central government’s IDPs return schedule, the NWFP government Thursday also announced that the Internal Displaced Persons’ return drive would kicked off from July, 13 and the campaign would be completed in 14 days. The first convey of IDPs would return from Swabi to Buner where four departure points were set up in district Swabi, whereas 6 points have been formed at Mardan for Buner and Swat IDPs. Briefing media persons at Chief Minister House, Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftekhar Hussain said that the IDPs would be provided all facilities regarding the affectees’ journey to their repective villages including transportation, one month ration etc. Main Iftikhar further said that drinking water, setting place, shelters, security, IDPs return documents and medical amenities would be provided at each departure centres. He said that the convey would be guarded by police and Frontier Constabulary contingents. He said that the return of IDPs would take place phase wise on Union Council level, where all the responsibilities have been given to the district government concerned officers, adding that the IDPs return activities plan was prepared by Emergency Response Unit. He said that 60-seated buses, trucks for luggage and coaches are being provided for transportation for which the provincial government would bear all the expenses. He said that the number of registered families, National Identity Cards numbers and other documentations would be prepared before the departure of each family, adding that number of trucks and buses would be increased according to the number of IDPs need. He said that on the first day of departure, total 8398 families would be go back to their homes through 1220 trucks and buses from various 11 areas of district Swabi for district Buner. While on the same day, total 3500 IDPs (persons) would be taken to district Swat from various 8 areas of Mardan. On the second day, total 2700 persons would be taken from Mardan various 8 places to Swat, and on the third day and on fourth day total 7800 persons would be taken from Mardan various 8 places to district Swat, and on the third day. The shifting of IDPs families operation would be continue till 25 July for 14 days. (PPI)
